The ADHO Special Interest Group for Interactive Digital Narratives (SIG_IDN) brings together scholars, artists, designers, technologists, and creative practitioners working on interactive and computationally mediated forms of storytelling.
Interactive Digital Narratives encompass works in which computation, interface, and user participation shape the production, sequencing, performance, and interpretation of narrative experience. These include electronic literature, digital storytelling, interactive documentary, narrative games, locative and pervasive storytelling, XR and VR environments, multilinear and database narratives, computational narrative, and AI-mediated storytelling.
SIG_IDN aims to provide a shared international and interdisciplinary forum for research, teaching, creative practice, preservation, methodological development, and critical exchange. The group will support collaboration across digital humanities, media studies, game studies, literary studies, design research, Human-Computer Interaction, archival studies, and related fields.
The SIG will also promote common vocabularies, tools, datasets, pedagogical resources, metadata practices, preservation strategies, accessibility, ethical reflection, and multilingual dissemination. It is interdisciplinary, international, and inclusive by nature.
