The Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO) seeks applicants for one 2026-2027 Communications Fellowship, which comes with a one-time stipend of €500 (Euro).
Each year, a Communications Fellow works with ADHO’s Communications Officer and Deputy Communications Officer to manage ADHO’s public communications activities. The fellowship is well-suited for graduate students, emerging scholars, and academic professionals who wish to develop a deeper knowledge of digital humanities and its global communities, contribute to an important digital humanities scholarly and professional organization, and gain professional experience in communications and graphic design. The Fellow should be involved in an organization that does digital humanities work (e.g. academic context, library, museum, gallery, etc).
In 2026–27, the Communications Fellow will focus on the development of a consistent and recognizable visual identity for ADHO’s social media communications. The Fellow will review ADHO’s existing social media materials and design and implement a coherent visual system for ADHO’s social media, including a new set of templates for recurring types of posts such as announcements, calls, events, publications, conference-related communications, news, and other organizational updates.
The Fellow will be expected to take responsibility for the design process from concept to implementation. This includes proposing design approaches, developing templates, establishing appropriate visual rules and layouts, and ensuring that the resulting materials are practical for ongoing use by the Communications team.
Work Environment
The communications team works remotely, communicating via email, Mattermost, and Zoom video calls. The Communications Fellow must have regular access to a computer and internet connection. In 2026-2027, the fellowship will begin as soon as possible after 30 September 2026 and will end on 31 October 2027.
