ADHO Announces Virtual DH2020

ADHO is pleased to announce that this summer we will hold a virtual version of the DH2020 conference. Our goal is to offer authors whose works were accepted for DH2020 the opportunity to share their papers, posters, and presentations publicly via Humanities Commons, an open-access platform for networked humanities scholarship, as well as to provide additional forms of interactivity and participation. The majority of the conference will be asynchronous in order to allow as many members of our global scholarly community to take part as possible; some concurrent conference events will take place during the week of July 22-24, when the in-person conference was to have occurred.

Details about the virtual conference – participation, registration, and dates – will be announced via the ADHO website, ConfTool, and social media on June 15. In the meanwhile, here are some highlights of what you can look forward to:

  • A DH2020 conference group in Humanities Commons, which provides opportunities for interaction and collaboration among participants
  • Presentations (short/long presentations, posters, panels) uploaded to the Humanities Commons CORE repository, where all presentations will be given a permanent DOI and linked to the Book of Abstracts, and viewers can comment and provide feedback
  • The Fortier Prize award
  • Community awards
  • Forum discussions

In addition, we will work with COs, AOs, SIGs, and affinity group members to support a variety of other conference activities according to both demand and feasibility:

  • Workshop webinars
  • Meet-ups
  • Twitter sessions
  • Synchronous panels/sessions

Questions regarding the virtual conference and participation in it can be sent to adho@adho.org with "Virtual Conference" in the subject line.
